Tracking for Fun!

Austin Dog Sports now offers Tracking!  Our Tracking for Fun class is geared toward giving your dog a new and exciting challenge in a fun environment - the outdoors!  Our class is not specifically designed for canines pursuing the AKC TD (Tracking Dog) title, but we hope that taking this class will give you the tracking bug and encourage you to pursue tracking - for fun or competition.

Tracking for Fun class objectives are the following:

1.  An enthusiastically tracking dog that will …

  • follow straight and curved tracks - up to 100 yards,
  • track short, aged tracks - up to 15 minutes,
  • work in various weather and ground conditions, and
  • will begin indicating an article with a consistent signal.

2. A confident handler that will…

  • handle the dog from up to 15’ with good tension in the lead,
  • understand the basics of track laying, and
  • begin a log book recording the dogs progress and tracks run.
