What is C.L.A.S.S.?
C.L.A.S.S. is a three-level evaluation for dog owners to demonstrate the real-life skills of their dogs, as well as a knowledge assessment of the owners’ understanding of basic dog handling and care. The 3 levels include: B.A., M.A., and PhD.
C.L.A.S.S., through its evaluation, curriculum, and training resources, advocates the use of reward-based training. Positive, reward-based training minimizes the use of punishment and is fun for you and your dog!
Austin Dog Sports offers C.L.A.S.S. assessments.
What is CGC Certification?
The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification:
- is an AKC certification (not a title).
- demonstrates a dog can pass a series of 10 tests: click here for a description of the CGC exam items.
- is frequently required before training with a pet therapy program.
Does ADS offer CGC testing?
CGC testing is available on a limited basis in South Austin. Testing ranges from $15-$25/student. Discounted prices available for ADS students.
Behavior Modification
Austin Dog Sports does not specialize in dog or human aggression, separation anxiety, or phobias. We do not handle these cases but will make a referral to a local trainer or behaviorist if we are unable to help you.

GROUP CLASSES
Positively Mannerly I
This pet manners class is for dogs 6 months or older that have either completed a puppy class or are just starting out with training. Your dog will be introduced to sit, down, stay, come, 2 tricks, greet new people nicely, place, loose leash walking and more. Each week will offer new skills, at home practice exercises, out & about tips for practicing in new environments, and fun at-home games.
Due to the pace of the class, this class is intended for dogs with adult handlers and no serious behavioral problems. Click/treat methods are used, so plan to bring your cookies, a fun toy, and lots of praise for your dog! Instructor: Cathy Cobb

Austin Dog Sports offers a 10% rescue discount on Positively Mannerly I classes to families and their adoptive dogs. You must enroll (complete registration and payment) in the class within 3 months from the date of adoption. Your adoption contract will contain the date of adoption.
